Today, the officers of the Narcotics Control Division of the Sri Lanka Customs prevented the smuggling of cocaine into the country.
A 45-year-old Ugandan woman who arrived in Sri Lanka at 9.00 am today on a Qatar Airways flight QR 664 from Uganda via Doha, Qatar, was found with a consignment of cocaine hidden in her stomach.
Due to suspicion during the interrogation at the exit gate of the Bandaranayake International Airport, Katunayake it was decided to search her using the Passenger Scan machine.
During the search, it was revealed that the cocaine was hidden in the woman’s abdomen. At the time, she admitted that she had swallowed 100 pills containing cocaine in her abdomen, and so far 51 pills have been removed.
The woman is to be handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau Police after further investigations by the Sri Lanka Customs Narcotics Division
