Minister Gammanpila allowed to travel abroad

The Colombo High Court yesterday lifted the travel ban imposed on against Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila temporarily for him to travel abroad.

The order was given when the case was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Amal Ranaraja.

The defence attorney requested court to lift the travel ban imposed on his client from January 23 to April 29. The High Court Judge ordered the lifting of the travel ban imposed on the accused Gammanpila during the relevant period and also ordered the temporary release of his passport which was in the custody of the court.

The Attorney General has filed a case against Minister Udaya Gammanpila during the previous government alleging that he had sold preparing a forged power of attorney and misappropriated Rs.20 million worth shares in a company called “Digital Nominees” owned by an Australian businessman named Brian Shaddick.
