The Police Special Task Force (STF) has arrested two suspects, including the son of underworld kingpin the late ‘Soththi Upali’ for the alleged assault and robbery of workers at a filling station in Nawala.
The five suspects, who were in custody in connection with the robbery at a filling station in Nawala, have been identified as residents of Borella and are aged 27 and 29 respectively. The suspects were arrested by STF officers after viewing CCTV footage and intelligence reports. The suspects were handed over to the Mirihana Police for further investigations. Police said that the arrest was made on a tip off received by STF intelligence officers. The suspects were arrested by a team led by Chief Inspector Nadika Silva on the instructions of STF Commanding Officer Waruna Jayasundara.
