Murder: Four family members remanded

Mount Lavinia Police arrested a young school boy on March 27 to be questioned in connection with the murder of the driver of the Security Unit of Minister Gamini Lokuge Meanwhile on last Friday the Kesbewa Magistrate Ruwanthika Marasinghe remanded four members of a family in Piliyandela till April 5 pending the investigations into the murder of Kaniska Gayan a father of two children, who was identified by the police as the driver of the Security Squad of Power and Energy Minister Gamini Lokuge.

Police investigations revealed that over a heated argument regarding a motor cycle accident the suspects had assaulted the deceased Gayan, while he was on his way home on March 23 night.

The Mount Lavinia Police investigated into the incident and had arrested the four suspects Nandana Krishantha Peiris(father) 52 yrs, Thelge Niroshani Peiris(mother) 42 yrs, and two sons Niroshan N. Peiris and Samira Sampath Peiris and produced before the Court on March 24 with a “B” Report.
