A sports coach attached to a national school in Gampola who was arrested for allegedly burning the Gampola office of former State Minister Anuradha Jayaratne was ordered to be remanded till May 17 by Gampola Magistrate Namal Perera.
The suspect is a resident of Pupuressa in Gampola. He was arrested on Sunday (15). Jayaratne’s office was damaged when an unruly mob set tyres on fire near his office. Police had indentified four suspects over the incident. Police and Army personnel have been deployed for the security of his office. Police have also erected checkpoints near his house in Doluwa.
