STF arrests person in possession of ivory

on the instructions of commandant STF DIG ,layer mr waruna jayasundara snd with the guidence of Zonal commander Ssp mr. Janka senadeera According to information received by STF personnel at the Ampara camp Inspector TBRP A siriwardene and a team of officers conducted a raid on 23.06.2022 at No. 05, Brownry Road, Batticaloa area in the Batticaloa Police Division.
The Special Task Force (STF) has been conducting operations to nab ivory and pearl smugglers in Sri Lanka’s World Heritage Sites and government reserves. Accordingly, a 42 year old resident of Kalladi, Vellore, Batticaloa was arrested and handed over to the Batticaloa Police for further investigations.
