A national mission launched by Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts , the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau and Sri Lanka Airlines.
The Sri Lanka Conference Ambassador Program ( SLCAP) was launched today, marking a significant milestone in the country’s transformation into a major international conference hub. Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts , the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) and SriLankan Airlines have joined forces to launch a first-of-its-kind program to position Sri Lanka as an international hub for business events.
The program is scheduled to be launched today with the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs , Overseas Employment and Tourism, Hon. Vijitha Herath, as the Chief Guest and the Chief Executive Officer of the International Congress and Convention Association ( ICCA) , Hon. Senthil Gopinath, as the Guest of Honor.
The Sri Lanka Conference Ambassador Program aims to engage and empower local leaders and professionals to act as ambassadors representing Sri Lanka on the global stage. SLCAP, which has already recruited 25 ambassadors , will undoubtedly help attract international conferences to Sri Lanka in the sectors they represent. The program aims to drive the country’s Meetings , Incentives , Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) sector in a new direction, driving economic growth through promoting sustainability and knowledge exchange.

By encouraging and equipping local organization leaders to bid for international conferences, we can bring significant economic and social benefits, making a major breakthrough in this industry.”

The role of SLCAP Ambassadors is to actively promote Sri Lanka as a business events hub , assist in preparing bids and proposals to secure international conferences , participate in business events to exchange knowledge, and nominate future ambassadors to maintain the growth and sustainability of the program. SLCAP also emphasizes the importance of sustainable practices, environmental responsibility and social equity in the industry, setting high standards for the MICE sector .
