The Federation of University Teachers’ Associations meets with the Prime Minister.

A discussion was held at the Parliament premises under the patronage of the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, with officials of the Federation of University Teachers’ Unions and Deputy Minister of Finance Anil Jayantha, Deputy Minister of Education Madura Senevirathana, and other officials to raise awareness about the salary anomalies of university teachers.

The Teachers’ Union Federation took steps to inform the government about the salary issues facing university teachers.
The Federation of University Teachers’ Unions stated that there is a difference between the salary increases for government employees and university lecturers in the 2025 salary increase, and that there is also a disparity in the salary increases between university non-academic employees and lecturers.

Accordingly, it was decided to first discuss the technical issues regarding the salaries of university lecturers with the relevant officials and to take further action based on the decisions reached.

The President of the Federation of University Teachers’ Unions, Anuruddha Karunaratne, Secretary Charudatta Ilangasinghe, and officials from the Ministry of Education, the University Grants Commission, and the Department of Management Services participated in this event.
