The Sri Lankan Ambassador to Israel has issued a message stating that due to the ongoing unrest in the region surrounding Israel and Iran, flights have been suspended across the region, including Israel, Iran, and flights have been diverted to Europe and Asia, and that this may result in extended flight times for many flights.
Those wishing to travel to Israel have been advised to postpone their arrival until further notice, and the ambassador said that these notices also apply to those departing for Sri Lanka. All offices and workplaces in Israel have been closed and a state of emergency has been declared throughout the country.
Sri Lankans in Israel have been advised to take precautions for their safety, and the Israeli government has reportedly announced that they should stay near safe houses to protect themselves from possible missiles fired by certain parties.
Transport in the country has been suspended and everyone has been advised to move to safe places. The ambassador said that ambulance services are operational in case of emergency and embassy officials can be contacted by phone 24 hours a day.
The Ambassador further advises that people should keep drinking water and dry food nearby at all times, and that those using medications should always keep them close to them.
