The ICT Lawyers’ Guild of Sri Lanka announced its second conference will take place on August 2, 2025, at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo, at a press meet held in Colombo recently.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sunil Abeyratne, Chairman, ICT Lawyers’ Guild of Sri Lanka, said the ‘ICT LAW ANNUAL conference 2025: “Law in the Digital Pulse” is aimed at bringing awareness to the legal fraternity of the development and the trends of Artificial Intelligence in today’s context of its use in the legal sphere. The conference will take place on August 2, 2025, at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo. This event will bring in jurists, policymakers, tech innovators, and corporate leaders to address the legal challenges faced in the process of Sri Lanka’s path to digital transformation. Key topics listed for discussion are Tackling digital threats—cybercrime, AI misuse, and privacy violations, Evaluation of current laws on e-commerce, data protection, and surveillance, and finally, the strengthening of cross-sector collaboration among judiciary, law enforcement, and tech experts.
He also added that among the speakers designated to address the conference are Parinda Ranasinghe (PC), Attorney General, Supreme Court Justices: Yasantha Kodagoda (PC), A.H.M.D. Nawaz, Kumuduni Wickremasinghe, Minister of Justice Harshana Nanayakkara AAL, and Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne.
Finally, Dr. Sunil Abeyaratne added, “Sri Lanka must adopt agile, rights-based legal frameworks to keep pace with the digital world.” Hence, we plan to conclude the conference with actionable recommendations, including ICT legal training, public-private cyber security partnerships, and AI-focused legislative reforms.
