HackHive 2025 Presentation and Awards Day concludes successfully…

The Past Prefects’ Association of Zahira College successfully hosted the Presentation and Award Day of HackHive 2025, a national-level hackathon designed to empower Ordinary Level and Advanced Level students across Sri Lanka through hands-on IT and innovation experiences recently.

Presentation Award Day Teams showcased their projects before a panel of judges, followed by the award ceremony recognizing outstanding talent.
The Chief Guest for the Award Day was Ms. M.A. Vasana Surangi Edirirsuriya, Additional Secretary (IT and Digital Education) at the Ministry of Education, Isurupaya.

Distinguished Guests: Ms. P.S. Sadamali – Deputy Director of Education and ICT Branch, Trizviiy Marikkar – Principal , Zahira College, Fouzul Hameed – Chairman Board of Govenors Zahira College , Rushdi Hadhi – Senior Manager, Startup Ecosystem Development, ICTA , Bimal Gunapala – Consultant, SLASSCOM , Hasanthi Kahandawala – Senior Manager, SLASSCOM and Abith Latiff – COO, SpectrifyAI (Pvt) Ltd were present.

The program commenced with a Welcome Speech by Ahsan Munaf, President of the Past Prefects’ Association of Zahira College, who emphasized the Association’s commitment to empowering youth through technology and innovation.

The event saw active participation from schools across Sri Lanka, including:

Amal International School Colombo, Al-Ashraq National School Nintavur, Baduriya Central College kandy, Darussalaam College Colombo, Gateway College Colombo, Highlands College Maharagama, IES international College Polonnaruwa, Khairiya Girls College Colombo, Madeena Maha Vidyalaya Kandy, Nalanda College Colombo, St. Peter’s College Colombo, Science College Moratuwa, Trinity College Kandy, T/Orr’s Hill Vivekananda College Trincomale and Zahira College Colombo.

Following rigorous judging, the awards were presented as follows: Winner: Code Crakers Team – Zahira College Colombo, , 1st Runner-up: Team Trinity Syntax – Trinity College Kandy and 2nd Runner-up: Code Crackers Team – T/T/Orr’s Hill Vivekananda College Trincomale.

HackHive is more than a competition; it’s a movement to empower the next generation of problem-solvers, thinkers, and innovators who will shape the future of Sri Lanka’s digital economy,” said the organizing committee.

Through HackHive 2025, the organizers aim to inspire thousands of young Sri Lankans to pursue careers in IT, innovation, and entrepreneurship, strengthening the country’s digital landscape and positioning its youth as global contributors.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ishfaaq Ismath, Project Chairman, who expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Education, ICTA, SLASSCOM, the college administration, mentors, sponsors, and participants for making HackHive 2025 a resounding success.
