New RO plant by Navy benefits students and locals in Vavuniya

Ensuring community access to clean drinking water, a new Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant established by the Sri Lanka Navy was declared open at Gamini National School in Vavuniya on 27 Oct 25.

This vital infrastructure project was completed as a key initiative under the Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) programme. The installation leverages the Navy’s industrial expertise and was undertaken following an initiative by the Ministry of Health, with necessary funding support by the Presidential Secretariat.

The new plant marks a milestone as the 1137th RO plant established under this sustained effort. Its primary function is to provide a consistent and reliable supply of safe drinking water, benefiting the students of Gamini National School, as well as the surrounding community.

The Sri Lanka Navy remains committed to its role as a conscientious contributor to national development, through this magnanimous project of installing RO plants.
