The Colombo District Court yesterday (4) ordered former President Maithripala Sirisena and other Party officials to file objections on June 20 over a case filed by a Party member challenging the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Chairmanship.
Colombo Additional District Judge Dulani S.Weeratunga issued the order after considering a case filed by a member of the SLFP party Committee Montague Sarachchandra, a resident of Malabe seeking an injunction order restraining former President Maithripala Sirisena from holding the chairmanship of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).
At a previous occasion, the Colombo District Court issued notices to former President Maithripala Sirisena, SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara, Treasurer Lasantha Alagiyawanna and National Organizer Duminda Dissanayake to appear before Court on May 4 regarding his holding of the chairmanship of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. The case was taken up yesterday in accordance with the notice and Attorney Pulasthi Rupasinghe appeared for former President Sirisena.
The judge ordered that the case be taken up again on June 20, following a request by the counsel who appeared for former President Sirisena to give the defendant time to file objections over the case.
