The minister further stated that he has no involvement in any such transaction and that no member of his family or any official of the ministerial staff are involved in the business of running foreign employment agencies.
The Minister stated that it is reported there are illegal money-collecting rackets operating in various parts of the island, while promising foreign employment seekers lucrative jobs in overseas countries.

The minister stressed that he is actively intervening to take strict legal measures to prevent such frauds, and urged the public to contact officials to verify their source of employment before committing to any financial transactions.

Also the Minister stressed that permission to send workers for foreign jobs has only being granted to licensed foreign employment agencies registered with the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment and foreign employment seekers should only deal with such agencies.
