.An illegal foreign employment agency in Kurunegala town has been raided today (5/31) by the officers of the Special Investigation Division of the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau.
The raid was carried out based on information received by the Special Investigation Unit of the Bureau that an illegal foreign employment agency called MMB at Suratissa Mawatha, Kurunegala was conducting recruitment for Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait and other Middle Eastern countries. There, the owner of the employment agency was arrested by the investigating officers, and the officers also seized 110 passports, job applications and other documents found at the place.
The arrested suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Kurunegala Magistrate’s Court today (5/31).
Officers Kapila Karunaratne, Idunil Pushpakumara, Ravindra Abepala, Madushan Wijewardene, Amila Perera and Ranga Yasaratne joined the raid.
Before giving money or passport to any organization or person to get to find out whether the agency has a valid license from the bureau to hire for foreign jobs and whether the agency is a valid employment agency and has received a valid job order for the job in question.
