
Sri Lanka Customs Narcotic Control Unit detain and seize over 60 Million LKR Worth of Narcotics in Courier Parcels;Cocaine, Kush and Cannabis Oil Seized from International Express Shipments Received via courier.
The Narcotic Control Unit (NCU) of Sri Lanka Customs has successfully intercepted, profiled and detained several suspicious express courier parcels originating from USA, Canada, and Malaysia, which arrived at Colombo Cargo Express between January 1, 2024, and June 2025. The said parcels remained unclaimed for an extended period, prompting further inspection. On June 25, 2025, the parcels were opened and examine and revealed a significant quantity of concealed narcotic substances: approximately 1,101 grams of cocaine, 1,666 grams of kush and four vials of cannabis oil. The total estimated street value of the seized narcotics stands at approximately over 60 million LKR. The seized narcotics were formally handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigation. This successful detection underscores the unwavering vigilance and commitment of the officers of Sri Lanka Customs in combating transnational narcotics trafficking. The proactive efforts and dedication demonstrated by the Narcotic Control Unit are highly commendable and reflect the institution’s critical role in safeguarding national security and public health.
